2017 Advocacy Club Retreat
Have you ever asked how to stand out from the crowd and promote your career? It’s a question that vexes many of us. 40 new lawyers got together recently and wrestled with those questions with support from senior members of the Ottawa bar (and a sitting judge).
The Advocacy Club’s annual retreat took place on May 13 at KPMG’s Ottawa offices. Over the course of a Saturday morning, we debated the ethical boundaries of self-promotion, “speed mentored” on how to make a name for yourself, and discussed how to become a rising star. Seniors provided both wisdom and entertainment while juniors practiced making their pitch.
This interactive and innovative CPD event was organized by and for club members. The organizers would like to thank all participants (both senior and junior) for making this year’s retreat yet another Advocacy Club success. Moreover, we collectively raised $1200 for CNIB’s SCORE program. Hope to see you again next year!
