Corporate Oppression

The Corporate Oppression Law Symposium will be held August 14 and 15, 2019, at KPMG Forensic Services offices at 150 Elgin Street #1800 in Ottawa.
Attendees will learn the tools of the trade to succeed in this area of law. The symposium will take an in-depth look at some of the common tools and resources used to litigate shareholder disputes effectively. In the two-day session participants meet leaders in the field. They participate in small-group seminars to practice the techniques and receive practical feedback from experts. Participants will use a case study modified from an actual dispute, will use a financial expert report to examine and cross-examine experts as well as witness statements to examine and cross-examine witnesses, and will make presentations before an experienced judge. They will learn techniques to deal with opposing counsel/parties to increase the chances of settlement and reduce the stress of litigation. The agenda includes:
